Those having the talent and potential to make a difference on a global scale are awarded Commonwealth Scholarships. Online submissions are being accepted for the “2023 COMMONWEALTH MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIPS TENABLE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM” for master’s degree programs starting in September/October 2023. The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), located in the UK, provides the scholarships. The complete application procedure is done online. According to the Ministry’s Notification of Even Number of 17 October 2022, interested candidates must submit their applications through the SAKSHAT Portal of the Ministry of Education and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s online application system. A total of six developmental themes are covered by the Scholarships:

- Strengthening global peace, security, and governance

Commonwealth Masters Scholarships 2023 India – Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
- The applicant must reside in India permanently.
- The applicant must satisfy all CSC-specified qualification standards,
- By the beginning of the UK academic year in September 2023, the applicant must be able to begin academic studies in the UK.
- Hold a first degree with at least upper second class (2:1) honours by September 2023, or a second class degree (2:2) plus an appropriate postgraduate degree (often a Master’s degree). A second UK Master’s degree is not typically funded by the CSC. If you are applying for a second UK Master’s degree, you must explain why you want to pursue this course of study.

Commonwealth Masters Scholarships India 2023 – Nomination Criteria
There will be 39 submissions submitted to the CSC for Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships in 2023. Candidate nomination does not guarantee selection for the scholarship, as is made clear to them. The Commonwealth Grant Commission has the authority to choose the recipients of this scholarship. The Ministry of Education plays no part in the CSC’s selection of applicants. The following is the nomination criteria:
Candidates will be considered for a nomination if they can show proof of getting a confirmed offer of admission by 16:00 hrs. on December 6, 2022, at any UK university listed on the CSC website. The deadline of December 6 has been maintained so that the CSC will get the final list of nominees by their deadline (December 14, 2022, 16:00 hrs.).
Candidates that meet the aforementioned criteria will be given points based on the following criteria, which will be used to further select candidates for nomination from India.
1. Candidates choosing the option to return to India after completion of the course and work in India for at least 2 years: 4
if undecided/no: 0
2. The candidate is from a disadvantaged background or to promote diversity:
- ST/ SC/ NC-OBC/ PwD/ EWS: 4
- Female/ Transgender: 2
- Others: 0
EWS: Income requirements for the PM-USP Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students are an annual household income of Rs. 4.5 lakhs or less.
3. Academic merit:
- UK University QS Ranking 10 on below: 4
- QS Ranking 10-20: 2
- QS Ranking 20-50: 1
- QS ranking above 50: 0

Commonwealth Masters Scholarships 2023 India – General Instructions
- Candidates who do not meet the requirements should not apply.
- Any type of canvassing will disqualify you.
- It is crucial for applicants who plan to return to their current jobs after finishing their studies in the UK to have confirmation from their employers that, should they be chosen by the CSC, they would be given enough time off to finish the programme.
- Candidates are urged to often check the Ministry Website because all upcoming announcements will be posted there.
- A public notice will be posted on the Ministry’s website informing the nominated candidates.
- Candidates are recommended to submit their applications on the CSC OAS first and preserve a copy in pdf format because they will need to upload this while submitting their applications on the SAKSHAT Portal.
- When applying on the CSC OAS, candidates must make sure that a valid email address is provided for their referees because they will receive an email asking them to provide their references online.

FAQs on Commonwealth Masters Scholarships 2023 India
The Commonwealth Scholarship is challenging but not unachievable. You must meet the minimum eligibility score in order to be considered for the scholarships because academic merit is a key selection factor for commonwealth awards.
A postgraduate programme in the United Kingdom is available to about 800 students each year under the Commonwealth Scholarship programme.
Only if you want to advance from Master’s to PhD study will the CSC consider a request to extend your right to remain in the UK after your award. There will be strict restrictions. The CSC cannot grant you permission to stay in the UK after receiving your award or a letter of support so that you can continue to work there.
