Every year, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) holds the SSC Combined Graduation Level exam, also known as the SSC CGL Test, to select qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Section Officer (ASO). Formerly known as Assistant in the Central Secretariat Service, this position is currently recognised as an Assistant Section Officer (ASO) (CSS). AFHQ SSC CGL: Job Profile

A Section is a fundamental unit from which decisions made by the government are derived, and the Section Officer is essential to the process.

The Section Officer will be in charge of overseeing the operations and personnel of the Section overall. Typically, after reviewing the relevant current policies, She/He will start files for recommendations or decisions. As a Section Officer in the AFHQ CS, the officer will play a crucial role in the administration and management of the Integrated Defence Staff Headquarters, the Inter Service Organizations under the Ministry of Defence, and the Secretariat of the Ministry of Defence, as well as in carrying out orders from the Government of India.
