NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility 2022 – NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme Components
To understand the NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility conditions one must first understand the NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme.
The government formulated various schemes formulated such as the Pre-Matric Scholarship for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) Students and Post-Matric Scholarship for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the year 1998-99. To enhance the quality of education for the Economically Backward Class (EBC), and Semi-Nomadic Tribes De-notified Tribe (DNT), schemes focusing on education empowerment were launched in the year 2014-15. All these schemes are operational since their inception but needed amendment.
However, the functioning of these schemes was not able to achieve its goals. Hence, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment formed one scheme which covered five schemes under its umbrella that is “PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India for OBCs and others (PM –Yasasvi)” for OBC, EBC, and DNT students. The scheme covers the following five under its functioning and all these five schemes have different Scholarship Eligibility criteria.
- Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students
- Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students
- Top Class School Education for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students
- Top Class College Education for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students

NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship – Conditions for Eligibility
The NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility 2022 is the requirement that one needs to fulfill for the registration. The Scholarship Eligibility is different for all the five schemes that are provided under the same. It is a requirement and step that everyone must complete to avail the benefit of the Scholarship. Given below are the NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility criteria.
1. NTA PM Yasasvi Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students
- The Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC, and DNT Student’s goal is to provide financial assistance to the students at pre matriculation or secondary stage. For the Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students the Scholarship Eligibility requirements are as follows.
- The students must be residents of India.
- The annual income of their family should not exceed 2.5 lakhs.
- The NTA PM Yasasvi Scholarship is open only to students of Other Backward Class (OBC), Economically Backward Class (EBC), and Semi-Nomadic Tribes De-notified Tribe (DNT). Students belonging to these categories can participate through a valid caste certificate after clearing all their NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility requirements.
- The scheme is open to all genders.
- Only full-time students studying in a government school can enroll in the scholarship scheme.
- According to the NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility only class 9th and 10th students are eligible for the scholarship.
- According to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment guidelines, the documents provided for the NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility should be original and verified by the students. If the candidate provides any kind of false information they will be disqualified and deprived of the benefits.
- The students will be provided an academic allowance of Rs. 4000/- per annum.
2. NTA PM Yasasvi Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students
The second scheme under the NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship is Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students. The objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to the OBC, EBC, and DNT students studying in the post-matriculation or post-secondary stages to enable them to complete their education. The Scholarship Eligibility requirements for this are as follows.
- The NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility is for the Other Backward Class (OBC), Economically Backward Class (EBC), and Semi-Nomadic Tribes De-notified Tribe (DNT) of India.
- The Post-Matric Scholarship is for students pursuing post-secondary courses.
- The NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility states that the candidates who have passed the Matriculation or Higher Secondary or any higher examination of a recognized government school or Board of Secondary Education are eligible.
- Candidates who are studying for one bachelor’s degree or master’s degree and after that pursuing another bachelor’s degree or master’s degree will not be eligible. For instance, candidates pursuing B.Sc. after BA or B.Com.after B.A. or M.A. in a subject after M.A in another subject will not be eligible.
- Candidates who have completed their education career in one professional line, will not be eligible. For instance, candidates pursuing an LLB after B.T/B. Ed will not be eligible.
- The NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility for this scholarship is only for students who have entered class 10th and not for students studying in class 9th and 10th.
- Candidates pursuing Post-graduate courses in medicine and not practicing during the period of their course will be eligible.
- The NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility also gives eligibility to the students pursuing correspondence/online courses, but the institutions should come under the Central/ State Universities only.
- Only two boy children of the same parents/guardian will be given scholarships but this restriction is not for the girl child of the same parents/guardian.
- The awardee of this scholarship cannot go for other scholarships. If so, they have to choose between the two.
- Employed students’ income with their parent’s or guardian’s income should not exceed 2.5 lakhs. The same goes for the unemployed students’ family income.
3. NTA PM Yasasvi Top Class School Education for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students
This scholarship aims to cover the financial cost of education of the meritorious students belonging to the OBC, EBC, and DNT from Class 9 onwards till they complete Class 12. The following are the scholarship Eligibility requirements for the Top Class School Education for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students.
- The candidates should have a bank account by their name in the bank.
- The candidates should have Aadhaar Based Attendance System that can be integrated into a central portal if required for the NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship Eligibility.
- The students studying in government schools who have applied for this scheme and are being assisted by the same will not be eligible for any other government scholarships or schemes.
4. NTA PM Yasasvi Top Class College Education for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students
The Top Class College Education for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students scheme covers the financial assistance to the students pursuing studies beyond class 12th. Below mentioned are the Eligibility requirements.
- The annual income of the applicant’s home should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh.
- 30% of the slots will be reserved for the girls in the allotted government institution under the NTA PM Yashasvi Scholarship scheme. An insufficient number of girls will lead to the transfer of slots to the boys who are eligible for the same.
- As per the Scholarship Eligibility requirements the scheme is valid for only two siblings in a family.
- The topmost priority will be given to the OBC students.
- The scholarship will be canceled if the student fails to pass the semester exam.
5. Construction of Hostels for OBC Boys and Girls
This scheme aims to provide the hostel facilities for students belonging to the socially and educationally backward classes especially from rural areas, so that they can pursue secondary and higher education. The Eligibility requirements are as follows.
- Students belonging to the OBC category are eligible.
- The students pursuing post-matric studies will be given priority. In case of vacant seats the accommodation in the hostel will be given to the pre-matric students of the second year.
- 5% of the seats are reserved for the disabled.
- Equal preference will be given to the candidates coming from OBC families with low income.
- If the OBC seat remains vacant, the seat will be given to the following categories.
- De-notified Tribes (DNT ) students.
- Scheduled Tribes (ST) Students.
- Scheduled Caste (SC) Students.
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Students.
