National Sports Promotion Award popularly known as Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar is an honour for the sports of the Republic of India. This honour is given in the sports world once a year by the Ministry of Youth Sports. Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar (National Sports Promotion Award) was started in the year 2009 to recognise the development of sports in India. The award promotes the participation of corporates, sports control boards and voluntary organisations. Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar 2023 Winners List: Overview
The National Sports Promotion Award was started in 2008. Some guidelines of this award were amended in 2015. As a result, there are four categories added after this amendment. Institutions are honoured in the following categories with the National Sports Promotion Award:
- Identification and nurturing of Navodaya and young talents
- Employment for sportspersons
- Establishment & Management of Sports Academies of Excellence
- Development of sports welfare and measures for welfare.
There are five organisations that have received this award more than once including Tata Steel, Services Sports Control Board, Railway Sports Promotion Board, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, and Petroleum Sports Promotion Board. Services Sports Control Board won this award four times in two categories in the year 2010, followed by 2012 and 2013. Furthermore, Tata Steel won the award three times in two categories in 2009 and again in 2010.
