BR Ambedkar's Death Anniversary

Dr. BR Ambedkar, an Indian jurist, economist, political leader, and social reformer, was a key figure in the development of the Indian Constitution.

Every year on December 6, India observes Mahaparinirvan Divas to commemorate Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar's death anniversary.

Dr. Ambedkar died in his sleep on December 6, 1956, just after finishing the final manuscript of Buddha and His Dhamma.

In 1990, India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, was bestowed upon him posthumously for his great service to the country and his countrymen.

He is the only Indian whose statue is currently next to Karl Marx's in the London Museum.
