Muharram Festival

As the first day of the Islamic New Year, Muharram is one of the most auspicious days observed by the Muslim community in India.


It is the first month of the Islamic year and the second holiest of the religion's four sacred months (the first being Ramadan).

Celebrations of Muharram begin after the new moon is sighted on the final day of the Islamic calendar and last for ten days.

The Day of Ashura, or the tenth day of Muharram, holds special significance for various Muslim groups for a variety of reasons. The tenth day of Muharram will take place on
