The Indian Premier League has been a colossal success in the world of cricket, becoming one of the most watched and the richest franchise cricket league in the world. But why should male cricketers have all the fun? With the growing popularity of women’s cricket around the world and in India, it was only a matter of time when the Women’s IPL would be launched, and that time has come.

The Women’s Premier League 2023, which is also referred to as Tata WPL 2023 due to sponsorship reasons, is the first-ever season of the Women’s Premier League. It’s a franchise-based Twenty20 cricket league for women, organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The Women’s Premier League 2023 Team List will consist of five teams and is scheduled to take place from March 4th to March 26th, 2023.

Women’s Premier League 2023 Team – Auction

During the auction, a sum of 87 players were purchased, out of which 30 players were from foreign countries. Smriti Mandhana was the most expensive player at the auction, bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping ₹3.4 crore (US$430,000). Ashleigh Gardner from Australia (bought by Gujarat Giants) and Nat Sciver-Brunt from England (bought by Mumbai Indians) were the most expensive overseas players with each being bought for ₹3.2 crore (US$400,000).
