World Food Safety Day 2022. The goal of Food Safety Day (WFSD), which will be observed on June 7, 2022, is to raise awareness and motivate people to help prevent, detect, and manage foodborne risks, thereby promoting food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism, and sustainable development.
Governments, producers, and consumers all share responsibility for food safety. From farm to table, everyone has a part to play in ensuring that the food we eat is safe and nutritious. Everyone should be concerned about food safety.
History of World Food Safety Day
This Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018 with the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating food-borne diseases around the world. It’s a global collaboration between WHO and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, as well as other member states and organizations, to eliminate potential health hazards caused by food-borne diseases.
Importance of Food Safety Day
Strengthening immunity, preventing the spread of foodborne illnesses, and establishing healthy, hygienic practises in agricultural domains, markets, and anywhere else where food is handled are not any more important. The goal of Food Safety day has always been to reduce disease risks caused by food around the world.
A few Important Points of World Food Safety Day are:
- Demonstrate how to ensure food safety and how to prevent diseases through food.
- Across all sectors, provide collaborative approaches to improved food safety.
- Develop and support programs to better manage and contain infectious diseases and prevent deaths.
