College of Engineering Pune Notable Alumni. COEP is an autonomous engineering institute affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University in Pune, Maharashtra, India. It was founded in 1854 and is one of Asia’s oldest engineering colleges.
The Government of Maharashtra’s College of Engineering Pune Technological University (CoEP Technological University) is a Unitary Maharashtra Technological University located in Pune, Maharashtra, India. It was founded in 1854, making it India’s third oldest engineering school after IIT Roorkee (1847). The term “COEPians” is used informally to refer to the students and graduates. The Maharashtra government announced the conversion of the college into the Unitary Maharashtra Technological University on June 23, 2022.

1. Nitin Paranjpe
Nitin Paranjpe (born 1963) is Unilever’s current Chief Transformation Officer and Chief People Officer, a position he assumed in January 2022. Prior to this, he was President of Unilever’s Food and Refreshment business, a position he held since 2018. In the history of Hindustan Unilever, Paranjpe was the youngest CEO and was credited with turning around the company’s fortunes in a difficult macroeconomic environment.
2. Rajiv Bajaj
Rajiv Bajaj (born December 21, 1966) is a businessman from India who has been the managing director of Bajaj Auto since 2005. He introduced the Pulsar motorcycle line, which is credited with reviving the company’s fortunes. In India Today magazine’s list of the 50 most powerful people in India in 2017, he was ranked 42nd. First , he has worked at Bajaj Auto in the areas of Manufacturing & Supply Chain (1990-95), and has been the company’s Managing Director since April 2005.

3. Vijay Kelkar
Vijay L. Kelkar (born 15 May 1942) is an Indian economist and academic. He is the current Chairman of the Forum of Federations in Ottawa and the India Development Foundation in New Delhi, as well as the Chairman of Janwani, a social initiative of the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA) in Pune. He previously served as Advisor to the Minister of Finance (2002-2004), and is well-known for his role in India’s economic reforms.
4. Lila Poonawalla
Lila Firoz Poonawalla (born September 16, 1944) is an Indian industrialist, philanthropist, and humanitarian[1], as well as the founder of the Lila Poonawalla Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that promotes professional education among aspiring girls in India through scholarships and guidance. She is a former chairperson of Alfa Laval India and TetraPak India and was one of the first Indian women to earn a professional degree in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering Pune (COEP).

5. Vikas Kharage
Vikas Shankar Kharage (born 17 March 1968) is an Indian Administrative Service officer who has been serving as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra since 9 December 2019. Kharage began his career as an Assistant Collector in the Maharashtra district of Chandrapur. He has held various responsibilities while working in various districts and departments throughout the state of Maharashtra.
