Age Limit

A applicant for the position of DGP should be between the ages of 21 and 32. This is the age limit for general category applicants. In contrast, the age restriction for Schedule Caste (SC) and Schedule Tribe (ST) candidates is 37 years, while the age limit for OBC (Other Backward Caste) candidates is 35 years.

For some backward applicants who are physically disabled, the maximum age limit has been relaxed. All applicants must have completed their bachelor’s degree and qualified for the Union Public Service Commission’s UPSC test before becoming an IPS officer. The position of DGP is only available through promotion.
