Shivaji was the son of Shahaji and Jijabai. Jagirdar was his father’s profession. He was working for the ruler of Bijapur. His mother was a religious lady. Shivaji’s mother had a significant influence on his life. Jija Bai told him the Ramayana and Mahabharata legends. She instilled in him the values of heroism and selfless love for his homeland. Guru Ram Das Samratha transformed him into a valiant soldier. At a young age, he mastered the art of riding as well as the art of fighting and combat.

Incidents of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Shivaji took the Torna fort of the Bijapur kingdom at the age of sixteen. By 1647, he had total control of the Pune region, including the forts of Kondana and Raigad. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj now controlled both the Western Ghats and the Konkan shore forts. He also fought against Adilshah’s army in Purandhar.
After the Mughal rule, he was the first Hindu to build a Hindu empire. He began his job with the assistance of his tiny army of hillmen. He stole some forts and districts from the Mughals in Bijapur State. Afzal Khan, a Bijapur army general, came to arrest him. In a secret meeting, he attempted to murder Shivaji.
