The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the only medical entrance exam in India for getting admissions to medical courses. NEET PG and UG Difference

What is the NEET-UG National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test? 

NEET UG is an All India Level Entrance Exam for getting admissions into the MBBS/BDS Courses.  Via NEET, you can get admissions into undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS, BDS (Dental), and AYUSH (BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS). NEET UG exam is conducted once a year to provide admissions to 80,055 MBBS seats, 26,949 BDS seats, 52,720 AYUSH seats, and 525 BVSc and AH seats.

Eligibility Criteria

  • To pass class 12 in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) with a minimum of 50% marks (40% for reserved category). 
  • While calculating these marks, English should be a compulsory subject. 
  • Minimum 17 years of age while filling out the application form. There is no upper age limit.
  • NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and Foreign Nationals are also eligible to take this exam.

Step 1: Go to the official website to fill out the application form. 

Step 2: In the part 1 of the NEET application, candidates have to provide their personal, contact, and academic details. Also upload the scanned images of the documents for more.

Step 3: In the second part, enter your education, place of birth, parent’s income, category, citizenship, and PWBD. 

Step 4: Double check the information and click on submit. You can also take a printout of the NEET application form.

What is NEET-PG National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate? 

NEET PG is a national-level entrance exam in which students can get admissions into the various MD/MS/Postgraduate Diploma Medical Courses in the country. The total number of candidates who have registered for NEET PG in 2021 was 1,74,886. NEET PG exam is conducted once a year to provide admissions to MD, MS, MDS, PG diplomas, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have passed the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree, or provisional MBBS as per the Indian Medical Council Act. 
  • Must have the MBBS registration certificate issued by the Central or State Medical Council. 
  • Must have completed one year of internship before filling out the application form.
  • Non-resident Indians who have completed the undergraduate medical degree from a foreign country have to take the Medical Council of India Screening Test.
  • Foreign nationals should have the registration from their respective country to practice medicine.
