Captain Deeksha, a resident of Davangere, Karnataka, was assigned to the MH Golconda of the Indian Army by the Short Service Commission (SSC) in October 2019. She completed her MOBC training at the Army Medical Corps Center in Lucknow while still a member of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

Captain Deeksha’s Career as Special forces

After successfully completing the first level of the course, Captain Deeksha was assigned to the 303 Field Hospital in Leh’s Tangtse. It’s interesting to note that Captain Deeksha made two attempts to register in the Parachute Regiment but was unsuccessful each time. As soon as she realized her physical limitations, she called a conference.

Captain Deeksha’s commanding commander, Colonel Shivesh Singh, motivated her to reenlist. Captain Deeksha’s second attempt resulted in an injury, and she failed to join the Parachute Regiment this time.

Despite the female officer being hurt, Captain Deeksha finally passed the Paratrooper selection procedure and was subsequently picked for Special Forces in December 2022.

In an exclusive interview with Republic, Captain Deeksha cited her desire for a “difficult and distinctive job” as the reason behind her decision to serve in the Indian Army.

Deeksha acknowledged that she’s always wanted a job that would let her give back to society. Captain Deeksha’s National Cadet Corps experience gave her more motivation to join the Indian Army and defend her nation.
