Typing Speed Required for SSC CHSL

Data entry operators must pass a skill test. There are no candidates who are excused from taking the skill test. Candidates’ data entry speed is evaluated throughout this test.

Part A: Skill Test for DEO/DEO Grade “A” PositionAccording to the official announcement, a computer’s data entry speed of 8,000 (Eight Thousand) key depressions per hour will be measured based on how accurately words and key depressions are entered into the passage. Each candidate will get printed English material including roughly 2000–2200 key presses, which they will then enter into a computer during the test’s 15 (Fifteen) minute duration. The passage that needs to be entered into the computer could likewise be shown there.
Part B: Typing test for various positions, such as JSA and LDCHindi or English will be the typing test’s medium. In the online application form, the applicant must select Hindi or English as the typing test’s language.

No later change in the medium of the typing test will be permitted; the candidate’s selection of the typing test in the online application form should be regarded as final.
Candidates choosing the English medium should be able to type 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) and candidates choosing the Hindi medium should be able to type 30 w.p.m (w.p.m.). Approximately 10500 key depressions per hour and 9000 key depressions per hour, respectively, can be calculated from 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m.

Candidates who claim to be permanently unable to take the Typing Test due to a physical disability may, with the prior approval of the Commission, be exempt from the requirement of appearing and passing at such test, provided such a candidate submits a Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-XIV) to the Commission from the competent Medical Authority, i.e., the Civil Surgeon of a Government Health Care Institution declaring him or her permanently unable to Additionally, at the time of the typing test, these candidates must support their claim by submitting the appropriate medical certificate in the format specified in Annexures XI to XIII of the Notice of Examination, as applicable.
