The Indian Navy has invited applications from eligible unmarried male and female candidates for the Short Service Commission (SSC) grant for courses beginning in January 2023 at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala. Candidates must meet the nationality requirements outlined by the Government of India. Selected candidates will receive training for the branches/cadres/specializations listed below. Indian Navy SSC Officer Selection Procedure: Selection Procedure
The following is the selection procedure for both males and females for the grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) for courses beginning in January 2023 onwards at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala:
Shortlisting of applications
The shortlisting of applications will be based on the candidates’ normalized marks in their qualifying degrees. Candidates qualifying degree marks will be normalized using the formulae detailed on the Join Indian Navy website.
- BE/B Tech: Candidates who have completed or are in their final year of BE/B Tech will have their marks up to the fifth semester considered for SSB shortlisting.
- Post-Graduate Degree Programme: For candidates who have completed an MSc, MCA, MBA, or M Tech, all semester grades will be considered. Candidates in their final year will be shortlisted based on their pre-final year performance.

SSB Interview
At the Service Selection Boards, candidates are evaluated for various Officer Like Qualities. Planning and organizing ability, social adaptability, social effectiveness, and dynamic ability are among the qualities.
The SSB is divided into two stages, as follows:
(i) Stage I Intelligence Test, Picture Perception Test, and Discussion Test.
(ii) Psychological testing, group testing, and interviews at Stage II
Medical Exam
A candidate who has been recommended by the Services Selection Board (SSB) will be subjected to a medical examination (Special Medical Board) conducted by a Board of Service Medical Officers. Only candidates deemed fit by the Medical Board will be admitted to the Academy.
Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards specified. They must be in good physical and mental health, and free of any disease or disability that would interfere with the efficient performance of duties both ashore and afloat, in any part of the world, under peace or war conditions.
Merit List
The combined merit list would be prepared based on SSB scores for all entries, subject to the availability of vacancies for each entry. Candidates who pass the medical examination will be appointed based on the availability of vacancies in the entry.
Candidates who are selected in the final merit list must submit proof of completion of the qualifying degree with at least 60% marks by sending an email to officer@navy.gov.in, as candidates who do not meet the criteria will not be allowed to join the Academy.

Indian Navy SSC Officer Selection Procedure: Tenure of Commission
Selected candidates will be granted a Short Service Commission for 10 years, which can be extended by a maximum of 4 years in two terms (2 years + 2 years), subject to service requirements, performance, medical eligibility, and candidate willingness.

Extended NOC officers (General Service/Executive & Hydro) will undergo 44 weeks of training, while regular NOC officers (all branches) will undergo 22 weeks of training at the Naval Academy, Ezhimala. After completion of this training, they will receive professional training at Naval Ships and other training establishments as per the existing regulations.
