SSC CHSL Postal Assistant Salary: Benefits
Apart from the basic salary, the Staff Selection Commission also provides additional allowances to employees in various positions, such as Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA), Sorting Assistant (SA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO). The following are some of the allowances that these employees may be entitled to:
- Transport Allowance
Employees receive a transport allowance to meet their daily commuting needs. Those working in cities will receive Rs. 3600 as transport allowance, while those working in other places will receive Rs. 1800 as transport allowance.
- House Rent Allowance
House Rent Allowance (HRA) is a reimbursement provided to employees for their stay expenses, which varies depending on the category of cities they live in. There are three categories of cities – X, Y, and Z. Before the 7th Pay Commission, the HRA percentages were 30%, 20%, and 10% for cities X, Y, and Z respectively. After the 7th Pay Commission, the HRA percentages have been reduced to 24%, 16%, and 8% for cities X, Y, and Z respectively.
- Dearness Allowance
Dearness Allowance (DA) is an allowance given to adjust the cost of living for employees. As per the SSC CHSL salary structure, the current Dearness Allowance is 17% of the basic pay under the 7th Pay Commission. In October 2019, the Union Cabinet increased the Dearness Allowance to 17% of the basic pay.
- Other Special Allowances
Central Government employees are eligible for leave travel concession, which is an allowance provided for traveling to their hometown or other parts of the country. In addition to this benefit, working as an SSC CHSL employee offers job stability, security, and a peaceful working environment.
