Budaraju Srinivasa Murty
Budaraju Srinivasa Murty is a metallurgical engineer from India. He received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, India’s highest science award, in the engineering science category in 2007. He has been the Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad since August 2019. He previously served as department head at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and as a professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
Dinesh Keskar
Dinesh Keskar (born July 25, 1954) is Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ senior vice president of sales in Asia-Pacific and India. Dr. Keskar received a Gold Medal for his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology in 1975. Under the supervision of Neil Armstrong, he earned his master’s and doctorate degrees in aerospace engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1976 and 1978, respectively.
Hemant Karkare
He was the head of Mumbai’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). He was killed during Mumbai terrorist attack 2008. He was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry decoration, in 2009. In 1975, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology in Nagpur.
Neelam Saxena Chandra
Neelam Saxena Chandra (born 27 June 1969) is a poet and author from India. She has written poetry and children’s stories in both English and Hindi. Chandra is the author of four novels, one novella, five short story collections, 25 poetry collections, and ten children’s books. She has received numerous honors, including the 2014 “Rabindranath Tagore International Award.”
Rashmi Urdhwareshe
Urdhwarde, Rashmi Rashmi Ranade (born around 1959) is an Indian automotive engineer. She is the director of India’s Automotive Research Association. In March 2020, she received the Nari Shakti Puraskar. In 1977, she chose to study electrical engineering at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology in Nagpur, followed by postgraduate studies in automotive engineering at COEP, which was an unusual and challenging career choice for a woman in India at the time.

About VNIT, Nagpur
Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology was founded in 1960 as part of a scheme sponsored by the Governments of India and Maharashtra. Previously known as Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, VNIT Nagpur (VRCE). The college is located in Nagpur, Maharashtra, in the western part of the city. The college has a 225-acre campus with three main entrances.
Admission to UG programmes is available in eight categories, including B.Tech and B.Arch. There are 18 M.Tech and 3 M.Sc programmes available for postgraduate students.
