Brief Introduction of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

Before getting into the Quiz Questions on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with Answers in English, let us know his brief history.

On April 14, 1891, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was born into a low-caste Mahar family at the Mhow cantonment, where his father served in the Army. He later became a champion of the abolition of caste. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was born into the lowest caste, which was thought to be the lowest caste. However, it was he who drafted the nation’s Constitution. His extreme recommendations to address the Caste System were received with open resistance from the Upper Castes, making his life a struggle. The great Doctor persevered in his studies despite all societal and institutional pressures and brilliantly graduated with a doctorate in economics from Columbia University in 1917. He placed a lot of focus on education, especially in areas where it was traditionally denied. It is well known that he once declared that education was more important for the poor than Temple entrance. He believed that education was a powerful tool that could empower each individual to create an egalitarian society and assist in removing long-standing discriminatory social practices. As a college bearing his name, we constantly uphold his ideals and support the next generation in creating a progressive, all-inclusive society for modern India.

Ambedkar was appointed law minister of the Indian government in 1947. He played a key role in drafting the Indian constitution, which forbade discrimination against people of the untouchable caste, and skilfully assisted in guiding it through the legislature. He quit in 1951 because he was dissatisfied with his ineffectiveness in politics. At a ceremony in Nagpur in October 1956, he and approximately 200,000 other Dalits rejected Hinduism and converted to Buddhism out of despair over the persistence of untouchability in Hindu philosophy.

His life history is interesting and remains an important topic of the B.R. Ambedkar Quiz.
